Miami, Florida

From Tampa I took a long bus ride south down to Miami where the other have of the Peace Corps crew that I know in Florida lives. Doug and Abbey live on South Beach around the corner from each other and just blocks from the beach. Alicia lives up the road in Fort Lauderdale. Doug was a great host and put me up in his extra bedroom/music studio for the few days that I visited as well as cooked a beautiful meal.

From Doug's place it was great walk down to the beach, straight down Lincoln Avenue which is a pedestrian mall lined with shops and outdoor eateries in the heart of South Beach.

It was great to visit with Doug, Abbie, and Alicia, and have some time to see Miami. Of course the beach was beautiful, but there were a number of other parts of Miami that were also great to see. One days Abbie let me use her car to see Little Havana, Coral gables, Coconut Grove, Downtown Miami, and a beautiful estate called the Viscaya.
